The Flair, a new home temperature control system works with existing smart thermostats to offer more control for greater efficiency.
Homes with smart thermostats such as Lyric or Nest are able to control and customize temperatures in any home or small office on a room-by-room basis. The company says homeowners can reduce energy cost and consumption by up to 30 percent.
Flair is made up of two parts: the Puck uses a wireless sensor to detect occupancy and evaluate room conditions like temp, humidity, pressure, ambient light and more. Then, it calculates and communicates the *exact* amount of air-flow needed (a small but critical amount can impact the feel of an entire room), to a Smart Vent, intelligently directing the air-flow throughout.
By leveraging an existing thermostat, the Flair can be installed without rewiring, and puts and end to thermostat wars, and there’s no more putting up with a freezing cold basement or sauna-like kitchen. Plus, Flair was launched at a price (at $60 for the Puck and $40 for the Smart Vent), aimed at making it an affordable system for a large segment of the residential market.
