Germany-based PV manufacturer, aleo solar said it was producing a new high-performance monocrystalline module with a conversion efficiency of over 18.3% and output of 300W.
Besides the use of monocrystalline solar cells for higher efficiency, aleo solar noted that the modules employed a new cell stringing technology that was claimed to reduce efficiency losses.
“We have improved our module and cell technology even more and brought together our best components to create the new aleo high-power PV module, said Günter Schulze, managing director of aleo solar. “For example, we have successfully integrated a cell connector capable of reflecting light in such a way that a higher proportion reaches each cell. In doing so, we have been able to solve a technical problem that many manufacturers are currently striving to overcome and have used this solution to boost our module’s performance.
The company also noted that the new module uses an anti-reflection coated front glass and a transparent EVA encapsulant film to provide higher levels of light to the solar cells.
“When taken together, all the characteristics of the module result in it generating roughly 20 percent more power over the same surface area than a standard 250 watt module. This means that to fit a system with the same level of output on a roof, installers must, for example, only install ten modules instead of twelve, saving both time and money,” added Thomas Platzeck, head of development at aleo solar.
Aleo re-started PV module production at its plant in Prenzlau, Germany in May, 2014.
The company has also requested its shares are withdrawn from trading on the Frankfurt stock exchange, which is expected to occur in March, 2015.
Aleo was recently acquired by Taiwan-based Sunrise Global Solar Energy, a subsidiary of Taiwan-based wafer producer, Sino-American Silicon (SAS) as part of its strategy to diversify is business.
